How to Turn Your failure to a Monumental Success
Good morning beloved, may I share with you, our text in church yesterday? It may be good for your meditation
Luke 5:1-7
And it came to pass, that, as the people pressed upon him to hear the word of God, he stood by the lake of Gennesaret, And saw two ships standing by the lake: but the fishermen were gone out of them, and were washing their nets. And he entered into one of the ships, which was Simon's, and prayed him that he would thrust out a little from the land. And he sat down, and taught the people out of the ship. Now when he had left speaking, he said unto Simon, Launch out into the deep, and let down your nets for a draught. And Simon answering said unto him, Master, we have toiled all the night, and have taken nothing: nevertheless at thy word I will let down the net. And when they had this done, they inclosed a great multitude of fishes: and their net brake. And they beckoned unto their partners, which were in the other ship, that they should come and help them. And they came, and filled both the ships, so that they began to sink.
In this passage, we see that Peter had toiled all night for fish without success. Peter was a skilled fisherman. He had been in that business for a very long time. But this fateful night, he did not catch fish. Sometimes, we have challenges that makes our wisdom to look like foolishness. Many people might see Peter that morning and tell him 1001 things he might have or have not done. They might have asked him if he applied this skill or that skill. Who knows, Peter's former apprentice might have fished in that same water and caught some fish. Peter was unsuccessful and it must have caused him shame and disappointment. You see, there are times when we seem to be impotent about situations. We might have done our best to make some money, make a good living, make your marriage work, e.t.c. yet your best might have failed to yield result. Beloved all hope is not lost.
You see, when Peter thought all hope was lost, something drastic happened. Jesus stepped in. Jesus was the factor that changed the course of the sequence of failure. When Jesus steps into your boat, your success will dwarf your failures. No matter how bad your case was, He will make it up to you. But notice, Jesus asked for Peter's empty boat. Peter's empty boat was his proof of failure, ill-luck, and disappointment that morning. It was an evidence of his frustration. Yet Jesus asked for it. Jesus is asking for your shattered and failed life today. He want to make the best out of your worst. He want to make a success out of your sorrows. He wants to bring wisdom from your foolishness. But many if us still want to be masters of our lives. Give it all up! Forget about your sorrows. Give your life in service and worship to God. When you led your life what do you have to show for it? Give it all back to God. Let him use you to reach the world. Someone may be sorrowful for being sacked from office. Use that time for evangelism now. Throw yourself on God. Say to him, I may not be where i want to be but Lord, I'm at your service. What will you have me do. Surrender to Him he will make it up to you. By the time He's done with you, those that laughed at you will come to celebrate you. Today is your day. Its time for your testimony
