GOD HEARS YOU WHEN YOU PRAY - YES YOU!
TEXT: John 16:23
And in that day ye shall ask me nothing. Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name, he will give it you.
MESSAGE
You might have wondered whether God hears and answers prayers. Or maybe you didn't doubt that God answers prayers, you doubt might be whether God is ready to listen to you. Many years ago, I used to think that God only listens to great ministers of God who have special relationship with God. I don't think I'm alone in such state of mind. Many have spent a fortune seeking people with special relationship with God who might be able to convince God into considering their conditions. Others have begged everybody including dead saints to pray for them. You don't need that friend
Jesus says, "in that day ye shall ask me nothing. Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name, he will give it you." Have you given your life to Jesus? Then you are entitled to use the name of Jesus. He says whatever you ask God in His Name, you shall receive. What Jesus is giving us here is a Powers of Attorney to operate in His Name. This mean that God can only deny you if he could deny Jesus. You don't need to go through any intermediary. As if to clear all doubt Jesus went ahead to say, " At that day ye shall ask in my name: and I say not unto you, that I will pray the Father for you: For the Father himself loveth you, because ye have loved me, and have believed that I came out from God."
Beloved God's ears are attentive to your petition. Are you reasoning that this may not include you? Is the devil trying to convince you that the words were meant only for the first disciples (John, Peter, James and the like)? He said that to me too util I read Verse 27 of John 16 again and noticed the premise on which that privilege is given. He says our prayers would be answered because God loves us and because we love Jesus and believe that He came from God. Now ask yourself these questions. Is God a respecter of persons? Of course not (Acts 20:34). Does God loves you? Definitely, He does (John 3:16). Do you love God and believe that Jesus as the Christ and the Son of the living God? Well if you do, you qualify! You can pray and be sure of God's attention and answers to prayers.
Finally beloved, "These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God. And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us: And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him."

WHAT A FRIEND WE HAVE IN JESUS
What a friend we have in Jesus,
all our sins and griefs to bear!
What a privilege to carry
everything to God in prayer!
O what peace we often forfeit,
O what needless pain we bear,
all because we do not carry
everything to God in prayer.
Have we trials and temptations?
Is there trouble anywhere?
We should never be discouraged;
take it to the Lord in prayer.
Can we find a friend so faithful
who will all our sorrows share?
Jesus knows our every weakness;
take it to the Lord in prayer.
Are we weak and heavy laden,
cumbered with a load of care?
Precious Savior, still our refuge;
take it to the Lord in prayer.
Do thy friends despise, forsake thee?
Take it to the Lord in prayer!
In his arms he'll take and shield thee
thou wilt find a solace there.
