THE HOLY SPIRIT: OUR LIFE ESSENCE


TEXT: Zech. 4:6
...Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, saith the LORD of hosts.

MESSAGE
One major difference between the church of Jesus Christ and any other religion or social organization is the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is the life essence of the church. We are not simply another religious group. We are not simply followers of Jesus. The church is a living person. It is the body of Jesus. Thus the Spirit that is in Jesus must be in the church. Any part of he church, whether as an individual or group that has not the Holy Spirit, is alienated from Jesus. In fact, you are not a part of Him if you have not the Holy Spirit (Rom 8:9). 

In fact the presence of the Holy Spirit in our lives cannot be overemphasized. Jesus would not even allow the new born church to step into the public without the infilling of the Holy Spirit. We no less need the presence and the filling of the Holy Spirit now as did the church then. But thanks be to God, every born-again child of God was born with the Holy Spirit at the new birth. But we need a step further. We need to be full of this Spirit. He needs to overwhelm us and have us in His sway. He needs to operate through us and manifest the divine life in us. Otherwise, we'd live the ordinary and limited life of the ordinary human being. We'd be subject to the elemental forces of this world.

The absence or relegation of the Spirit to the background in the churches these days is what has reduced the church to mere religion. Many of us are living under fear and torments of demons. We cower at prophecies of economical crunch and other like prophecies of doom. True as they may be, we don't need to be affected by them. We are not of this world and our economy is not of this world. We shouldn't live a limited life controlled by earthly circumstances. That is not God's plan for us dear one. He wants us to live in dominion and in glory. He wants us to reign in this world (Rom 5:17). Let us return to the Lord and demand for the manifestation of His presence in our lives by His Holy Spirit in our inner man. He will make us into superhumans, doing great feats for the Lord. We can live beyond this realm and fulfill our destinies. But then,  it is...not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, saith the LORD of hosts.

PRAYER
Praise God for the presence and Power of the Holy Spirit that he has made available to us.

Ask the Father to overwhelm us by the Spirit of Christ causing us to be filled to overflowing

Ask God to remove from us every worldly satisfaction that makes us not too hunger and thirst for His presence

Commit your life family, Profession, etc this year unto the leadership of the Holy Spirit
