INTEGRITY 3
TEXT: JOB 2:3
And the LORD said unto Satan, Hast thou considered my servant Job, that there is none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that feareth God, and escheweth evil? and still he holdeth fast his integrity, although thou movedst me against him, to destroy him without cause
MESSAGE
While some people have integrity as their natural strong points others just can't live up to that, not because they love it so, but maybe their upbringing or some natural disposition made them so. Well, that's not a problem once you become a christian. Once the life of God comes into you, your physical ancestry, background and antecedents don't matter anymore. What matters is leveraging on the eternal life that is in you (Gal 6:15). There's an inner strength made available in your spirit by the eternal life that now resides there. Yes, eternal life in you can spring forth the living fountain of integrity. So how do you leverage on that?
Firstly, you must believe--and be totally resolved about it--that the life of God is in you and as such you're absolutely like Jesus in your spirit (1John 4:11, 13 & 17). But this level of conviction is only possible if you constantly hold the mirror of God's word before you through meditation thereon with the aid of the Spirit (2Cor 3:16-18; James 1:23-25). Constantly meditate on the word of God that tells you who God has made you and the characteristics that God says you have; for example, integrity.
Next resolve in your heart to live according to he Word of God. Resolve, for example, to speak the truth always; never to go late to work, church or any appropriate place for that matter. Clear off all those explicit still and motion pictures from your reach. A resolution as this is a allowing God's word supplant your thoughts, your words and your actions. God sees this as humility. You've humbled yourself by preparing yourself to obey him even though you know you don't have the ability within you, you're trusting in Him to help you walk the talk. That is how to repent and how to "put on the Lord Jesus and [making] no provision for the flesh to fulfill the list thereof" (Rom 13:14).
This is one secret of Job's integrity. He once said “I made a covenant with my eyes, how then should I look lustfully at a young woman?'' (Job 31:1 WEB). Now, this much is your responsibility (Proverbs 16:1). Once you have sincerely done this, God takes over from there. We'd discuss that tomorrow.
