GO IN THIS THY MIGHT (PT 3)
TEXT Judges 6:14
And the LORD looked upon him, and said, Go in this thy might, and thou shalt save Israel from the hand of the Midianites: have not I sent thee?
MESSAGE
The might that Gideon was instructed to go in is the presence of the Lord. This presence of God is manifested by the Holy Spirit. Once Gideon acknowledged the presence of God in His life, the Spirit of God came upon him (Judges 6:34) When Jesus was to leave the earth, He says to His disciples that He will send us the Holy Spirit who is the Spirit of truth. Now, that Spirit is the Spirit of Jesus. That is why He says that at that time He was speaking with the disciples, the Spirit was with them. But by the time He has been glorified, He will send the Spirit to dwell in all His saints. Thus, "The Lord is that Spirit and where the Spirit of the Lord is there is liberty" (2Cor. 3:17).
When the Spirit of the
Lord is in you, the the Lord is in you. Thus no matter the opposition,
no matter how strong or how many they are, "Ye are of God, little
children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you,
than he that is in the world" (1Jn 4:4). The only way you can rule in
the midst of your enemies is by the presence of the Lord through His
Holy Spirit in your life
The Holy Spirit brings you the
resources you need to achieve your desire. The presence of the Lord will
make men respond to you. Gideon needed some men with him. When the Holy
Spirit came upon Gideon, he blew the trumpet and people--albeit
initially scared of the Midianites, all responded to him, ready to fight
by his side (Judges 6:34-35). The Spirit of God will help you to
discover and destroy the demonic stronghold of your challenges(Judges
6:25). The Spirit of Christ will give you the instruction necessary for
your victory (Judges 7). He told Gideon how to go about fighting the
Midianites. The Spirit of the Lord will encourage and strengthen your
heart when you have doubts (Judges 7:10-13). The Spirit of God will give
you victory always.
You cannot achieve much in life
without the Holy Spirit. Jesus will not even allow the apostles preach a
single message before they received the Holy Spirit. The absence of the
Holy Spirit in the churches today is what has reduced Christianity to
mere religion. Let us return to the Lord and demand for the
manifestation of His presence in our lives by His Holy Spirit.
