GO IN THIS THY MIGHT
TEXT: Judges 6:14
And the LORD looked upon him, and said, Go in this thy might, and thou shalt save Israel from the hand of the Midianites: have not I sent thee?
MESSAGE:
While Gideon was still sckeptic of ever being able to engage his oposition in battle God gave him the battle instruction. God already told him that His presence with Gideon will ensure his easy victory. But he added one very key instruction that ties up everything together. He said GO IN THIS THY MIGHT
What might was the Lord talking about? This might God says is the presence of the Lord by which he will defeat the enemy as though they were just one man (Judges 6:16). The Lord was saying that he should advance against his opposition being strong in the Lord. We shall explore this phrase in a couple of days, but one thing that we must get today is that we must go in the strength of God alone.
There is always a tendency to engage your challenges with other forms of strength. It is wrong to engage your challenges with any other might than that which God has made available for you. The Lord says, "It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in man. It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in princes." (Psalm 118:8-9). When God has been able to raise the confidence of a man to see hope in a hopeless situation, there is this general tendency to repose that confidence on someone or something else.
You may have had debts all around you and you're facing serious liquidation. Just when God begins to tell you he can raise up men to help you, or give you ideas that can fetch you money, you find yourself now looking up to one wealthy friend or the other. Rather than trusting in God, you begin to run to all your uncles and friends trying to make things work out for God. You see, when He has started His work in our lives, we have a way of trying to assist God so that we can share in the glory. The is why many intervention of God stop half way. Gideon almost fell for that error. Later on we saw him mobilizing a multitude as if God was going to save by multitude. So God downsized his men by 32,700 such that Gideon was left with just 300 men (Judges 7). Please read Jeremiah 17:5-10
Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding (Prov. 3:5). Even when God gives you an idea or send someone to help you, do not let your confidence shift God to any man, resource, idea etc--not een the one perceived to have been God sent. The horse is prepared against the day of battle: but safety is of the LORD (Prov. 21:31). As you trust in the Lord continually, your miracle shall be a complet one inthe name of Jesus
PRAYER
Thank you Father for your continuous presence with me
Father I trust in you and you alone. Let my miracle spring forth speedily in the name of Jesus
Father, Turn away mine eyes from beholding vanity; and quicken thou me in thy way (Psalm 119:37)
Now pray for the Church and for this Nation
Pray for me too that I may continually trust in the Lord with all my heart
