ALIGNING TO FULFIL DIVINE MANDATE 2

TEXT: 2Tim 2:20-21
20  But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth; and some to honour, and some to dishonour.
21  If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master's use, and prepared unto every good work.

MESSAGE
Our theme scriptures shows us that if we want to fulfil divine mandate, it is not enough to be in God's house; we must purge ourselves. No wonder, the scriptures says, " Remove impurities from the silver and the silversmith can craft a fine chalice" (Prov 25:4 MSG). What God intends for us to purify here is our character (See Rom 5:4 NIV). This keeps us alert for whatever God will do next. It is our character that makes us qualified or otherwise for the mandates of God.

No matter who you are, before God commits a mandate into your hands, he must test your character. From Genesis to Revelation, the patter runs unbroken; the foundation of the Lord still standeth sure. We were accepted into the great house totally renewed by the blood of the Lamb of God but one thing was left for us to change. It is our character. From birth, the human deprave nature and the sinful society has taken its toll on the character of a man. They have made it perverse. Now that we are saved, God wants us to wash away the dross from ourselves through the fire baptism.

You may be born again, spirit filled, grace guarded, tongue talking and a sure citizen of heaven. But until you refine your character you can't go far as far as fulfilling your divine mandate is concerned. Of a truth, the gifts and calling of the Lord are without repentance, but His mandates are sure with repentance because the "king's business required haste". If you'd not fulfil it because you refuse to prepare yourself for it; God will get another person who is either more or less endowed than you and and the pleasure of the LORD shall prosper in his hand (Isaiah 53:10). That doesn't mean you'd lost your gift or anointing. But you may lost relevance in God's agenda until you're ready. Let it be your resolve to refine your character by the Word of God and you'd be ready for any move of the Lord.

LET US PRAY
Father thank you for calling me into and making me a member of your great house

Father I have resolved to separate myself from the things of the world, I receive grace from you today to walk in holiness

I declare that I am sanctified by the word of God and my character is being refined by the operation of God's word and Spirit.

Father I pray for your church today that you by your spirit will cause us to walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God
