GOD'S PROVISION FOR YOUR PROVIDENCE 3
TEXT Luke 4:25-26
But I tell you of a truth, many widows were in Israel in the days of Elias, when the heaven was shut up three years and six months, when great famine was throughout all the land; But unto none of them was Elias sent, save unto Sarepta, a city of Sidon, unto a woman that was a widow.
MESSAGE
Whenever you're fortunate to receive a divine instruction on giving, you can be pretty sure that a supernatural move for your Providence is on the way. Many of us know this, but many time, what we do not know is how to receive the divine instruction that can lead to our breakthrough. That is what we would be examining now.
Whenever you're fortunate to receive a divine instruction on giving, you can be pretty sure that a supernatural move for your Providence is on the way. Many of us know this, but many time, what we do not know is how to receive the divine instruction that can lead to our breakthrough. That is what we would be examining now.
If you read the passage Jesus was referring to, you'd notice that God said to Elijah in 1Kings 17:9 He said "I have commanded a widow woman there to sustain thee". But when Elijah met the woman, she had no idea who Elijah was, neither did she seem like someone that had received any such instruction. Nevertheless, despite her predicament and the fact that the meal left at home was her last morsel, she did not hesitate to sacrifice her last morsel for a total stranger. Now, this is the definition of love, putting others and their interest ahead of yourself and yours. She practically laid her life down for Elijah
She had been tutored by the Word of God until it became a command to her. Everyone in Israel knows about the law of love. To many it was simply a suggestion; but to this woman, it was a commandment that demands obedience even at the expense of life. This evidently is why God said I have commanded her. God knew His word was her command.
Today, many Christians are seeking for every opportunity and excuse to avoid obeying God's word. They rejoice at every argument that seems to justify their selfish lifestyle. Yet they run everywhere looking for a prophet to tell them how to come out of their challenges. No wonder familiar spirits and false prophets accommodate them. When God's word has permeated your heart enough to change your lifestyle and attitude from that of selfishness to love, you'd find yourself doing God's will all the time even when you didn't hear any voice. And as you do so, divine providence would be your portion.
LET US PRAY
Father thank you for your word that is able to build us up.
Father thank you for your word that is able to build us up.
Father build us up with your word till we begin to walk perpetually in perfect love towards God and all men
