SPIRIT BASED PLANNING AND STRATEGY (THE MIND OF CHRIST 7)
TEXT: John 5:39
Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.
MESSAGE
In our last discussion we studied how to fellowship with the Word of Christ. Today we shall be moving further on the issue of developing the mind of Christ.
One major pitfall of many that profess the christian faith is that they don't understand the dimensions of the word of God, thus they muddle things together and make a mess of their faith. The scripture is the major vehicle by which the Word of God is conveyed to man. Scripture simply mean letter (translated from the Greek words: "graphe" or "gramma"). The scripture is a means to and end. It is not the end itself, the Word (Jesus) is the end. That's exactly what Jesus is saying to us now
The major error of the Pharisees (which, sadly, many Christians still fall into) is that they mistook the scripture for the Word of God. Of a truth, the scripture is Godbreathed: but it is not, on its own, the Word of God which gives life. The Word of God is Jesus! He's the life giver. The scriptures testify of Him. If all you do is search the scripture without fellowshipping with the Christ to whom the scripture points and and of whom it testifies, you'd get puffed up with vain knowledge (1Cor 1:18), and get disconnected from the Head (Col 2:18) and eventually die, for the letter killeth (2Cor 3:6).
Can you see exactly why people can read the scripture and yet be very far from the truth? No wonder, the people that argue strongest against the word of God, back up their views with the scripture. The most wicked cults and religions do quote the Bible. Even the devil does!
Many people think that the letter referred to here is simply the law of Moses or the old testament. No! It is the scriptures--both old and new testament. You can die and go to hell reading the epistles of Paul if you never opened your heart to the Word of God. In the same vein, you can grow in grace even if all you had was the old testament scripture. The first century Christians never had The new testament, yet they did better reading the law and prophets than many Christians scholars of today.
So, don't be satisfied with just reading, analyzing on quoting the Bible, be a student of the Word. Humbly bow before th Spirit of Christ and ask Him to reveal the truth to you. Don't be in haste. Wait on the Lord till you locate the Word in the Do not stop until you encounter and hear the Christ in your spirit and soul.
LET US PRAY
Father thank you for this wonderful truth
I open my heart to your word today. Dear Father open my eyes to the Word--even Jesus of whom the scriptures testify.
I humble my heart before you. Cause your word to prevail I my life
Father, open the eyes of your church to the true and only Word of God
Father hallow your name in this land by mighty works through your church in Jesus Name
