PREPARED FOR THE MASTER'S USE
TEXT: 2TIM 2:21:
If a man therefore purges himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honor, sanctified and meet for the master's use and prepared unto every good work.
MESSAGE
Have you ever wished to be useful to the Lord. God wishes that many times more than you do. In fact that is one of the reason why you are saved (Titus 2:14). He wants to put you to make you a vessel unto honour. A vessel is honourable not because of the material it is made of, but because of the use to which it is put. God wants to add value to you by putting you to an honourable us. He wants you to be an instrument that stands before kings. However, much as God calls everyone, he is very careful who he commits to His divine honourable use. From the text of today, the we see that purity of material is what determines its honorable use. The scriptures says, " Remove impurities from the silver and the silversmith can craft a fine chalice" (Prov 25:4 MSG).
God intends for us to purify is our character. character is the sum total of a person's mode of behaviour. It is our character that qualifies us or otherwise for the use of God. We were accepted into the great house of God totally renewed by the blood of the Lamb of God just as we were; but one thing was left for us to change. It is our character. From birth, the human deprave nature and the sinful society has taken its toll on the character of a man. They have made it perverse. Now that we are saved, God wants us to purge away those dross from ourselves through the fire baptism.
This is the major reason why God gives us our faith. The scriptures says the end or purpose of our faith is the salvation or regeneration of our souls (1Pet 1:9). This is how it works; there are various times we encounter the trial of our faith by the fire of circumstances. We are to exercise our faith by staying by the word of God. Thus Paul says, "We can rejoice too, when we run into problems and trials for we know that they help us to develop endurance and endurance develops strength of character and character strengthens our confident hope of salvation.( Romans 5:3-4NLT). Through many test to which we refuse to yield because of the reverence for our God, we build character. When you are actively involved in building your character, you are recommending yourself to the master for an honourable use. Moreover, refining your character is the salvation we are asked to work out with fear and trembling (Phil 2:12). When we do so, apart from being set apart for the master's use, we will also develop a stronger confident hope of salvation (i.e. the redemption of our flesh through rapture at the coming of Christ)
