THE VOICE OF GOD AND COMMITMENT

TEXT: Matthew 6:33
But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

Hebrews 6:9-1-
But, beloved, we are persuaded better things of you, and things that accompany salvation, though we thus speak.
10  For God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labour of love, which ye have shewed toward his name, in that ye have ministered to the saints, and do minister.

MESSAGE
Today, once again, the Lord has lent His voice to our need for commitment. Commitment refers to a state of being bound emotionally or intellectually to a course of action. It is a state of sincerity and focused purpose. There are some things that we can call the ONE THING NEEDFUL. They operate as the key to our desired end. Once located, every other thing falls into place. Now commitment involves identifying this most important thing and giving ourselves wholely to it. It is easy to be encumbered with so many other seemingly legitimate things. But Jesus once said, "thou art careful and troubled about many things:  But one thing is needful..."(Luke 10:41&42)

Jesus says that we should be committed to seeking the kingdom of God and His righteousness. That is the ONE THING THAT IS NEEDFUL. Once we do this, all other things will follow as a matter of course. Now you may ask what actually is the kingdom of God? Is a state in which the will of God is done in our lives just as it is done in heaven. His righteousness is a state in which we are acceptable before God based on who He is and what He has done to the total exclusion of who we are, or what we have done. Now that is what we call grace.  What Jesus is actually saying is that we should be committed to doing His will and resting on his grace.

The will of God is that we should live and serve in love resting on his grace. Let love propel you to serve the Lord by serving your brethren whether individually or collectively as a church. The Lord says we should commit ourselves to these things, that is, doing the will of God. he says that all other things shall be added unto us. "For God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labour of love, which ye have shewed toward his name, in that ye have ministered to the saints, and do minister." (Heb. 6:10). He will reward your labour of love by supplying those other things that were evidently the opportunity cost of doing His will.  "Meditate upon these things; give thyself wholly to them; that thy profiting may appear to all" ( 1Timothy 4:15)
