THE VOICE OF THE GOD OF PEACE
TEXT: Mark 4:39
39 And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.
The International Standard Bible Encyclopedia explains that peace
is a condition of freedom from disturbance, whether outwardly, as of a nation from war or enemies, or inwardly, within the soul. The Hebrew word is shalom (both adjective and substantive), meaning, primarily, "soundness," "health," but coming also to signify "prosperity," well-being in general, all good in relation to both man and God.
Peace is when God fight for you and you hold your peace (Exodus 14:14)
Peace is when there is wailing in the land of Egypt and in Goshen not even a dog barked at the Israelites (Exod 11:6&7)
Peace is when the God of peace bruise satan underneath your feet (Rom 16:20)
Peace is when the Lord prepares a table before you in the presence of your enemies (Psalm 23:5)
The bible says, "When a strong man armed keepeth his palace, his goods are in peace" ( Luk 11:21 ). Peace is when the Strong Lord defend you and your goods are at peace
Peace is when the God of peace "make wars to cease unto the end of the earth; [when he] break the bow, and cut the spear in sunder; he burn the chariot in the fire" (Psalm 46:6)
When the God of Peace arises on your behalf it is to put a final end to the rage of your enemies. When the God of peace arises, he does not follow protocol. He gives you peace by all or whatever means (2Thes 3:16). If He has to consume a whole nation and give another as ransom to give you peace, so be it! He is ready to do so (Isaiah 43:3). Arise, O LORD, in thine anger, lift up thyself because of the rage of mine enemies: and awake for me to the judgment that thou hast commanded. ( Psa 7:6 )
"The voice of God is upon the waters...The voice of the LORD is upon the waters: the God of glory thundereth: the LORD is upon many waters. The LORD sitteth upon the flood; yea, the LORD sitteth King for ever. The LORD will give strength unto his people; the LORD will bless his people with peace." (Psalms 29:3,9&10).
The students of prophesy understand that the waters or the seas in the bible most times refer to the heathen. In our text today, the seas arose because of the wind. The devil is the pince of the powers of the air (Eph 2:2). He may stir the people of the world against you just like he stir the seas against the disciples of Jesus against them. He may trouble your finance, family, or ministry. The fact that you are born again and are on a mission for God may not stop him from causing a scene. But if Jesus be in your boat, you have nothing to fear. The powers of the wind and the rage of the seas bow to the VOICE OF THE PRINCE OF PEACE
It is time to cry to the God of Peace The Psalmist says," When I cry unto thee, then shall mine enemies turn back: this I know; for God is for me" (Psalm 56:9). It does not matter the level of your faith just now. Just cry to Him. Of a truth, Jesus rebuked the disciples for their faithlessness but that was after he has rebuked the wind. He is a compassionate God. In his mercies, he will bruise the devil underneath your feet by His strong and Majestic voice of peace. Fear not and speak with the voice of God; "PEACE BE STILL". The Lord shall give you peace always BY ALL MEANS
